About Me

My name is Tamara and I live in beautiful Charleston, SC.

I learned to knit in 2005 and have had the privilege of teaching kids and adults to knit since 2006.  I successfully passed Levels I and II of the Craft Yarn Council's Certified Knitting Instructor Course. I have taken classes at the South Carolina Knitting Guild's annual Knit Inn for the last three years.  There is always a different knitting book on my bedside table because there is always something new to learn in knitting!

I organized a local observance of World Wide Knit in Public Day for the years 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

I have taught for a major craft retail chain, in coffee shops, private homes, churches and at the Village Knittery and The Charleston Museum.

You can find me knitting throughout the month at Sit & Knit gatherings at the Village Knittery, Summerville Knitters and my own  Monday Morning Knitters.  Our knitting group has knit for charities such as The Red Scarf Project, Knit Your Bit, TriCounty Family Ministries,  Knit for Kids and others.

You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter and Ravelry as KnitOasis.

Knitting is a hobby that expands horizons, brings people and generations together and enriches lives.
